PEI launches fourth annual Start Up Challenge

By Michelle Collins |

CHARLOTTETOWN - The province has announced it's Fourth Annual Start Up Challenge. The Business Plan competition is open to all residents of the province. Applications will be accepted until April 14 with the winners being announced during IT Week in May.

Aimed at the Information Technology and New Media sectors applicants can enter themselves into either one of the two categories: Student or Entrepreneur of a New or Existing Business. The first stage of the competition will require that entrants submit a summary of their business ideas to the judging panel. Finalists will be paired with a mentor to create a more detailed plan. These plans will then be presented and the two winners will be determined.

The winners will receive a variety of prizes including money, computer equipment and services, as well as professional business services. In addition to these prizes the winners may also be eligible for six months of time in the Technology PEI Inc.'s Incubator Program.

Those interested in participating can find a complete list of rules at www.techpei.com.
