Survey seeks the most business-friendly communities in Canada

By Michelle Collins |

ABBOTSFORD - Think your community is one of the most business-friendly in Canada? Then Home Business Report magazine wants to hear from you. The magazine is currently conducting its fifth annual nation-wide survey to find out which Canadian communities the most supportive of home-based and other micro businesses.

The survey will measure a variety of criteria including zoning regulations, business fees, financial programs, and opportunities for business and educational training.

"We are looking for winning communities where all levels of government interact and streamline processes for HBBs. We assess the role of other support groups such as local Chambers of Commerce and economic development groups. The survey is used to evaluate the steps that communities take to create a truly supportive environment. We compile that information and share it with communities across our country," says Barbara Mowat, publisher of Home Business Report.

If you would like to nominate your community, complete the survey by September 18, 2003. The survey is open to all individuals, companies, or organizations within the community. The survey can found on the magazine's website www.homebusinessreport.com .

The awards will be presented to the winning communities on November 3, 2003 in Toronto.
