Angel investing usually takes place between the entrepreneurs personal financing and venture capital. Like venture capitalists, angel investors may also provide management support in addition to funding. The NAO estimates that on a collective basis angel investors provide five times more funding than the entire venture capital industry combined.
"Multiple studies have shown that net new economic growth comes from small and medium-sized enterprises. For that reason, a robust and active angel investor community, contributing financial and other support to emerging businesses, is critical to the sustainable success of an economy," said Henry Vehovec, president and co-founder of NAO.
