Free online bookkeeping test

By CO Staff @canadaone |

Does your bookkeeper have the skills needed to perform his or her job? The Canadian Bookkeepers Association (CBA) says that it is important for entrepreneurs to find out, and is asking each entrepreneur to test their bookkeeper using their free test.

With almost 2.5 million self-employed people in Canada, the CBA believes that this test is a critical assessment, as each business needs accurate bookkeeping.

The 30 question test, which can be taken online, covers a wide range of bookkeeping topics including payroll, recording sales, end of year adjustments, and the correct way to record data when a company uses the perpetual method to manage their inventory.

If your bookeeper does not score a successful grade CBA can recommend an effective course of action, such as further education, professional development, or possibly limiting bookkeeping practices.

Morash said, "I encourage anyone performing any type of bookkeeping to try the test, even if they are only doing their own books. Many Canadians use software for their accounting, and most with the understanding that they don't have to know anything about accounting to DO accounting! To not be aware of your aptitude and hope for the best is simply not smart business."

The test can be taken online or via fax. To find the online test, go to the Resources section on the CBA website: www.c-b-a.ca
