SK: Minimum Wage Increases Today

By CO Staff @canadaone |

SK - Minimum wage increased today from $7.55 to $7.95 an hour. This is the third and final stage of the three-stage increase announced in June 2005.

The first increase of $0.40 took place in September 2005, bringing the minimum wage at the time to $7.05 an hour. On March 1, 2006 there was a second $0.50 increase that brought minimum wage to $7.55 an hour.

The increase to $7.95 an hour positions Saskatchewan with the highest minimum wage in Canada after British Columbia and the Territories. Approximately 7000 employees in the province earn minimum wage.
