BC: Tax remittance now due on the 23rd of each month

BC -- Businesses will now have eight more days to remit their tax returns and payments of provincial sales tax and hotel room tax. The change, which comes after a provincial sales tax review, will see the deadline move from the 15th to the 23rd of each month.
"During the Provincial Sales Tax Review, many businesses commented the current remittance period of 15 days is too short," said Rick Thorpe, Minister of Small Business and Revenue and Minister Responsible for Regulatory Reform. "Moving the due date to the 23rd of the month from the 15th is one of many steps we are taking as a result of input received during the review and toward our goal of making British Columbia Canada's most small-business-friendly jurisdiction."
In its first-year report, the permanent Small Business Roundtable specifically recommended government consider extending tax-filing timelines as part of simplifying PST for small business. "We've responded, and in the year ahead, we will continue to consult our small business partners on ways to further simplify and streamline the tax system," said Thorpe.
