Entrepreneurs' competition open to all undergraduates

For the 21st year in a row, Queen's University is putting on the Queen's Entrepreneurs' Competition (QEC), which offers a cash prize for the best international undergraduate business plan.
This year, the QEC will be offering an award of $25,000 to the student with the best business plan. Being held at Queen's School of Business, the competition is open to students from around the world
In addition, those teams who make it to the final 16, will be able to share their plans, get feedback and network with speakers at the event.
Some of the speakers and judges at the event are: Kathleen E. Sendall, VP of North American Natural Gas, Petro Canada; Chris J.B. Clark, Chief Executive Officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada; Tim Wilson, President of Visa Canada, and many others.
For those interested in submitting an application, the deadline for submissions to the competition is November 1, and is open to all undergraduate faculties. A formal business plan must be submitted by all teams, outlining marketing, financing, human resources and operations.
Each submission will be judged on the following criteria:
- Originality and creativity of idea - 10 points
- Marketing - 20 points
- Finance - 15 points
- Human resources - 10 points
- Production and operations - 15 points
- Overall viability - 20 points
- Quality and conciseness of plan - 10 points.

The winners will be announced during the QEC weekend, January 22-24, 2009.
