B2C is short-form for business to consumer, meaning businesses that sell goods and services to consumers.

Why is it important in today's business environment? To be honest, this part of your question is too general for us to answer.

There are many reasons why B2C is important, and not just for today. Many people were very excited about the use of B2C on the Internet, because this new communication medium allowed businesses and consumers to connect in entirely new ways.
