Vacation Pay in New Brunswick

Expert: Maurice Boucher

Charity asked:

How can I figure out the amount of money I am entitled to for vacation pay in New Brunswick? The rate of pay is 14.50/hr at 44 hrs/week.

Maurice Boucher answered:

If you have been employed at your current location for less than eight years you are entitled to receive vacation pay equal to four per cent of total wages during the vacation pay year.

The vacation pay year is defined as the first day of July to the last day of the following June. So this current year started on July 1 2003 and will end June 30, 2004.

If you have been employed for eight years or more with your current employer then you are entitled to vacation pay that is equal to six per cent of your total wages for the vacation pay year.
