Commercial policy coverage

Expert: Larry Simoes

Abe asked:

Will my commercial policy cover the cost of removing trees on my property that were blown down in a windstorm?

Larry Simoes answered:

Every commercial policy differs from one company to another, however, most policies will not cover tree removal when caused by a windstorm, unless the tree fell and damaged the client's property, like a building or fence.

In order to repair the damaged building the tree needs to be removed first. If the tree just fell to the ground and damaged nothing, the cost of the removal of the tree will not be covered. This also applies to most Homeowners Insurance policies as well.
