Accessing Cheap Market Research Information

Expert: Statistics Canada representative

Lloyd asked:

Where can you access cheap market research info on skiing?

Statistics Canada representative answered:

  1. Statistics Canada
The Time Series CANSIM has two documents for skiing facilities that you might find useful. Total revenue years 1990-1996 and Number of Firms 1990-1996 are both available on the website for $6.00. 1990-1996 are the most recent years available on this topic. Here is the link.

  2. Canada Year Book 2001
This book which is published yearly and available in the reference section of any depository library has a demographic breakdown of physical activities including downhill skiing for the year 1996-1997. Depository libraries house all government publications available to the public. Click here to search for one in your area. Another book that our expert recommended was the Canadian Almanac. Look for skiing associations.

  3. Research Services
Statistics Canada will also conduct research for you. Of course, once you enlist outside help the cost will start to rise. The number for these services is 416-973-7475. There is also a toll free number that provides data from the most requested sources, you can reach them at 1-800-263-1136.
