Traditionally, larger commercial and industrial buildings are mostly designed with flat roofs. Flat roof systems have come a long way from the days of layering molten tar and tar-paper and them simply applying a protective gravel ballast to protect the resulting rudimentary waterproofing cover form the sun's heat and UV rays. The standard 4 four-ply build-up roof by far has been the most common type of flat roof installed on commercial and industrial buildings throughout Ontario. And in some applications continues to be widely used.
Since 1947, generations of our family have installed hundreds of square kilometers of this type of conventional roofing. If we stopped to do the math, we have probably installed the equivalent amount of flat roofing as it would take to cover the 401 from Windsor to Toronto.
Today, Rauth Roofing continues to service this type of roof while at the same time we are also installing more complex roof systems replacing these conventional systems.
