The SPAO Centre is home to the only 2 year photographic arts diploma in Canada, a unique 6 month artist residency, evening and weekend photo skills classes and the only photo-based gallery in the region

SPAO was founded in 2006 by Education Director Michael Tardioli and a group of dedicated students. In just 43 days the school was equipped and built. Since 2016 SPAO has grown massively, moved into a new renovated building with one of the best darkrooms in the region and the new wheel-chair accessible SPAO Centre Gallery. SPAO offers classes in traditional darkroom, alternative processes and digital photography techniques. Small class sizes means students receive a hands-on individual learning experience leading to SPAO's dedicated community and award-winning alumni.
