Small businesses in Canada face significant challenges.
Compared to their larger counter-parts, a small company needs to work for just over two hours to earn the same dollar that a large company generates in one. What's more, that statistic applies to companies up to 499 people in size. After doing initial research, we believe that the actual number for "micro-businesses" (< 25 employees) and women-led companies may be even worse.
As part of our Accelerating Women project we have developed a survey that we are asking both male and female business owners to complete. Our goal is to find out what makes some small companies very successful, while others struggle. We are also probing for key gender differences in the way men and women approach running their companies.
The survey should take 10-15 minutes to complete and we will be sharing key results with everyone who participates in a final report.
